Growing up on the Gulf Coast, Alicia split her time between land and her father’s charter house boat. He’d pick her up from school and they’d return to the boat where she’d do homework as he finished up his day’s work. Other days he’d take off to build a kite and fly it on the beach with her. Or fish on the pier. Alicia was around boats almost everyday. Through this collection she’s able to relive these childhood memories through this series; giving them that childlike flair as a nod to her youth. The way the sun hits the boats, casting reflections into the water. Something about the push and pull of geometrical shaped hull and masts against the organically shaped water and clouds.

 

There’s a real harmony to it.
